Easy Halloween Wreath

The back of any door is a great spot to add a little touch of Halloween. It’s just out of the way enough to avoid most wear and tear, but noticeable enough to add some spirit to your space at Parkview Apartments (676 King Street). This Easy Halloween Wreath DIY uses an inexpensive grapevine wreath as its base. Spider webs, backyard fall foliage and black spray paint complete the look.

Bats

You only need black paper and scissors to make adorable flying bats this Halloween. A free template is included in this online tutorial, guaranteeing a good-looking project regardless your crafting abilities. Make as many bats as your heart desires and use them to fill any blank wall space in your apartment.
Mason Jar Mummy

Upcycle any glass jar to make a Mason Jar Mummy. Besides the jar, you’ll need googly eyes, gauze and tape to keep it all together. You can make this DIY Halloween project in less than five minutes for about five dollars.

Spider Webs

Halloween may be the only time you want spider webs in your apartment! Don’t waste your money on fake webs. Instead, craft these spooktacularly easy webs using black trash bags you already have on hand. Hang the finished webs over your windows, above your sofa or across your bookshelf for an appropriately terrifying last-minute decoration.

Puffy Paint Pumpkins

With a little patience, DIY Gilded Pumpkins are a glamorous addition for any room in your apartment. The perk of using fake pumpkins for your DIY crafting is that you can reuse whatever you make next year. Plus, the pumpkins are just neutral enough that you can keep them up post Halloween right through the remainder of the season.

We hope you like these recipes and make them at home, in your Williams and McDaniel property, in Midland.

Softshell Crab Sandwich with Collard Slaw

Lobster Roll

Lobster is also in season during the summer. That means it’s Lobster Roll season. Simply stuff a few seasoned chunks of “the steak of the sea” into a buttered, toasted hot dog bun or your favourite roll and you have the perfect summer sandwich.

PB, Pear and Cream Cheese

The first time you hear it, you may think: “Peanut Butter, Pear and Cream Cheese Sandwich?” But it’s time to think “peanut butter, pear and cream cheese sandwich!” The sweetness of the seasonal pear blends perfectly with the cream cheese and peanut butter.

Hummus and Veggie Sandwich

This Hummus and Summer Veggie Sandwich features bell peppers, arugula and radishes — all of which are perfectly in season this time of year! This satisfying veggie sandwich won’t leave you missing meat.

Green Goddess Sandwich

This Green Goddess Sandwich is an insanely delicious, light but substantial, summer sandwich. Two pieces of bread are loaded with tomato, cucumber (both are in season now), fresh herbs, fresh mozzarella cheese and pickled onions.
The Williams and McDaniel blog team hopes this week’s post helps to fill your picnic baskets and helps to keep your ovens and kitchens cool this summer. For more information on Williams and McDaniel rental properties in Midland, please visit our website.

How to plant an herb garden in your kitchen

To give Midland apartment residents some direction when it comes to planting their own herb garden, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some suggestions and tips that will have your new flora flourishing.

Know What You Want To Grow

Before you start gardening, it is best to decide which herbs you want to grow, their level of maintenance and preferred conditions. Some plants like a lot of warmth and sun and others prefer a cool, less sunny location. Basil, sage and rosemary all prefer lots of sunlight, while bay leaves, chives and parsley prefer sun exposure in moderation.

Factor In Location

Choose which herbs to grow based on the light and indoor growing conditions of your apartment. Having a clear idea of what you’re growing will help you make the best decisions possible. Pick up seedlings at Wildflower Farm located at 10195 ON-12 in Coldwater, which is a 25-minute drive from the Executive Suites at 794 Aberdeen Boulevard, Executive Suites at 800 Aberdeen Boulevard and Executive Suites at 806 Aberdeen Boulevard

Understand How They Grow

Each plant is different when it comes to its needs and its method of growth. Certain plants work best when they are grown straight from seeds, whereas others might need to be grown outside and then transplanted to a new pot indoors.

Keep Soil Most, Not Over-Watered

Make sure that soil is moist and not overly saturated with water. An excess of water will result in herbs that sit in standing water, which is known to make roots rot. Clay pots aerated with small holes are another solution that will let plants drain and avoid the detrimental effects of overwatering. Located at County Road 93, Native Woods Nurseries is a five-minute drive from the Parkview Apartments and an ideal destination for all of your gardening needs.
Add some flair to your apartment and accompanying dishes with the help of your own personal herb garden!
